Data means nothing if you can’t trust it. So in an increasingly data-driven world, trust is becoming the new currency – especially if your entire business relies on connectivity between data centers and operators. Do you want to put the future of your business in the hands of someone you can’t fully trust? I wouldn’t.
What better way is there to build trust than being transparent? One of the most frequently asked questions from our customers is, “Can we see our network in real time?” And it’s a fair question. After all, you generate terabytes of data, but normally only get to see a fraction of it. Our aim is to become fully transparent for our customers and show what goes on in a global telecom network. This could mean sharing how we resolve issues before they turn into incidents, how fast we act on incidents and how we plan to mitigate so that a similar incident should not be possible to occur again. Exactly how your data flows through our network is also information we’d like you to have access to.
To make this happen, one of the actions we are taking is developing a new customer portal that will be easily accessible from any device. It will, over time, let our customers access everything; from their usage data graphs to all planned work, incidents and alarms that could occur in their systems. But what we do not want to do is to lock the transparent data up in a portal. We know our customers would prefer this information to be shown in their own internal systems, and will therefore also have full APIs to our new portal.
We truly believe that Total Information Transparency is the only way forward. Keeping our customers updated and informed at all times is of course at the core. But it has other benefits too. It is no secret that most large operators have some incorrect data registered somewhere among the vast number of systems and equipment used to produce your services. By collecting and combining data from various sources and visualizing it in intuitive ways to the organization, we quickly discover any imperfections. Therefore, transparency drives our performance. By being transparent we are constantly on show to run a smooth operation – there’s no place to hide.
So it’s obvious by now that we think transparency is great. Not just for you, but for us too. Being able to say, “here’s the data, judge us on that” is not something all carriers are able to do. The fact that we will be able to share it with you is something we’re very proud of.
